GSHSEB to file FIRs against unaffiliated schools | Ahmedabad News

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) on Tuesday decided to file police complaints against schools that have not obtained affiliation from any recognised education board. Top sources in the state education board said that several trustee and management-run schools are operating in the state without any affiliation.
“Students at such schools face problems when taking exams as these schools are not affiliated to any education board. We have decided to take strict action against such schools,” said a source in the GSHSEB.
On June 9, GSHSEB officials wrote to all district education officers (DEOs) in the state saying that a police complaint must be filed if a school is found to not have affiliation with any education board.
In Ahmedabad alone, more than 50 Gyan Shala centres are operational. These are not affiliated with or approved by any education board. Ahmedabad DEO R C Patel said, “We have appealed to parents to not admit their children to such schools. If they do, they do so at their own risk because problems will likely crop up later.”
In Ahmedabad, several complaints against unaffiliated schools have surfaced. All education inspectors have been directed to identify such schools in their zones and bring them to the DEO’s notice.
