South Coast Family Harbor Relief Nursery receives Coquille Tribal grant | Local News

COOS BAY — South Coast Family Harbor Relief Nursery has received a $20,000 grant from The Coquille Tribal Community Fund. These funds will be used to further the organization’s home-based program. The purpose of this project is to serve families living in more rural areas of the county and are at high-risk for abusing or neglecting their children. These funds will enable South Coast Family Harbor professionals to travel to the families’ homes to immediately begin stabilizing them, reducing risk factors of abuse/neglect and start building safe and nurturing families. Funding from this grant will provide South Coast Family Harbor with the resources and materials that will be used during these home visits.

Founded in 2001 by The Coquille Indian Tribe, the Community Fund has distributed more than $6.1 million to support projects in the areas of education, health, public safety, arts and culture, problem gambling treatment and historic preservation in a five-county region of Southwestern Oregon. This year the fund awarded 57 grants totaling $291,163.

For organizations wishing to be considered for the next round of funding, the deadline for applications is Nov. 30. For more information, visit the fund’s website at
