CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – As the teacher strike heads into a sixth day, it’s not just students missing school, student teachers are missing their field experience. At WVSU the administration has frozen all student teaching until after the strike.
WVSU officials said students have been concerned about completing the required number of hours for graduation, but say they will work with them to make it happen.
Another concern for students according to officials, entering West Virginia public schools work force.
“They are very concerned and I’m sure that there are quite a few of our students
actively following what’s happening and making decisions about will
they stay in West Virginia, will they cross state lines to pursue their careers,” said Scott Woodard, WVSU Associate Provost.
